Baking soda + Turmeric = Red
Turmeric Spice Pancakes的食材和调料
| Unsweetened applesauce | 1/2 cup |
| Flour | 1 cup |
| Non-dairy milk | 1/2 cup |
| maple syrup | 2 tbsps |
| Baking powder* | 1 tbsp |
| cinnamon | 1/2 tsp |
| turmeric | 1/2 tsp |
| Black pepper | A pinch |
| ginger | 1/4 tsp |
Turmeric Spice Pancakes的做法与步骤
- 第1步.
Combine all ingredients in a blender. Blend till combined. Don't over blend.

- 第2步.
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Pour about 1/4 cup of batter into the pan. Since it is quite thick, spread into a circle.

- 第3步.
Cook for 2-3 minutes on the first side. When you can easily slide a spatula under, flip. Cook for another 2-3 minutes. Remove from pan. Repeat until all the batter is gone. Top with yogurt. Enjoy!

See note to make the fluffier red pancakes.

- 第5步.
Without the lemon juice and baking soda the pancakes are just not as super fluffy. Still fluffy, just not SUPER fluffy.

- 第6步.
The pancakes are fluffier because the combination of baking soda and an acid (in this case lemon juice) creates carbon dioxide as a byproduct.

小贴士
*If you want to make the fluffier but red version, use 1 tsp baking soda + 2 tsps baking powder + 1 tsp lemon juice.
